How to avoid fines in public transport

Tricks & Tips on how to avoid getting a 750 kr ticket fine in the train/metro.

I’m sure you must be wondering “Is it even possible to avoid getting a fine in the train or the metro”. I know it sounds crazy but I can guarantee you that, it is possible to avoid getting a fine in the train or metro and we are gonna tell you how you can do it.

I’m sure we can all relate to some of the scenarios below:

  • We have all been in a situation where we were in a rush and we might have forgotten to check in
  • We were about to miss the train and just jumped in the train hoping to check in at the next stop
  • We might have had a valid ticket in our phone but the phone ran out battery and died while we were in the train
  • We might have lost our wallet or we might have forgotten our wallet at home or work.

In consequence we were given a fine by the controller because we didn’t carry a valid ticket/we didn’t have any proof showing that we have already purchased a ticket and probably ended up getting either DKK750 fine or just had to pay DKK125 administration fee. I’m sure you are here to find out how to avoid getting that fine and I will take you through the different steps that you will help you to avoid paying for either the DKK125 administration fee or the DKK750 fine.

Here are the 3 steps you will need to avoid getting a fine.

  • First thing you will need is to have a CPR number. CPR number allows the controller to check whether or not you have purchased a ticket or in possession of a valid ticket.
  • You must have a valid ticket linked to your CPR number. For your ticket to be linked to your CPR number, it must be purchased via DSB/DOT App – Periodekort and Rejsekort(Exclude any Anonymous Rejsekort bought at 7 eleven or any other streets vendor or kiosks)
  • Sign up for “Glemt Kort” which means “Forgotten Card”. To sign up for Glemt Kort you will first need to create a DSB Plus account. To learn more about other DSB Plus benefits click here. When signing up for the Glemt Kort you will need your CPR Number and the Stamkortnummber (ticket’s reference number). In case you can’t find your Stamkortnummber (ticket’s reference number) you can contact customer Service at 70 13 14 16
